Clinical Analysis of 28 Cases of Semiluner Cartilage Injuries


Abstract
Clinical observations and brief reviews have been presented on 28 Cases of meniscus injuries seen and treated at Capital Army Hospital and other two military medical installations during past one year from Sept. 1962 to Nov. 1963.
The results were as follows:
1. All cases included in this report, were millitary personnels in twenties of age.
2. History of injury was obtainable in 19 cases of 28(67.8%).
3. The lateral meniscus was more frequently injured than the medial with a ratio of 19 to 9(67.8% to 32.2%).
4. The bucket handle tear was the most common type of injury and 2 cases of discoid meniscus, 1 case of cyst were seen. 2 cases had concommitant injuries to the ligament.
5. Meniscus was found normal in 5 cases of those who showed typical symptoms of meniscus injury, and therapeutic result following the surgery, however, was satisfactory.
6. From 22 to 84 days were required for complete healing and it was shown that therapeutic results were depended on the cooperation by the patients.
